5 Reasons We Love Working in Care

Sep 26, 2022

People often make assumptions about the care industry, often mistaking the myths they hear as fact. However, there are a plethora of reasons that make the care industry such an attractive place for people to work – we’d like to list them all here – we just don’t have the time.

Here are 5 reasons we love working in care:

1. A rewarding career

Do you ever finish work and feel you’ve contributed very little in the way of social value? Working in care is one of the most rewarding jobs out there. Every day you step into your scrubs you support some of our society’s most vulnerable people to live dignified lives.

2. Career development prospects

Are you stuck at the bottom of a career ladder with no progression in sight? Becoming a carer offers career prospects that can lead to Senior Management and Director level roles. As you gain experience in the early years of your career you will build up skills and knowledge. These will provide you with the ability to take on the responsibility needed to ensure you can confidently lead a team of carers following promotion.

3. Training and qualifications to be gained

Do you long for training and qualifications to give you more confidence in the workplace? Carers will seldom find employers who don’t want you to gain further training and qualifications. The more training and qualifications you gain the more you can support residents and recipients in care improving their experience. Training and qualifications you can expect to gain range from manual handling to NVQs in Health and Social Care.

4. An active role

Do you sit quietly at a desk wishing you had a more active role to play? A career in care will require you to be on your feet engaging with residents or recipients of care. You will never be expected to sit and stare blankly at a screen. If you long for an active and exciting role, then care might just be the career for you.

5. Transferable skills are welcome

Even if you answered yes to all the above you will still have gained many skills you can take with you into the care industry. Whether it’s your work experience or the daily riggers of life, many of us are equipped with life skills that hold significant value within the care industry without us knowing it.

If you have compassion and care a lot about helping others then you will understand why we love working in care. Contact us today to find out more about how you can start your career
